ConQUIZtador is a trivia strategy (quiz) game for 3 players. It is set on a map divided into territories. The object is to win the most territories, and the points they are worth. The winner is the player with the most points at the end.
Battles for the territories are waged through a quiz game with trivia questions, not weapons.
Every player first draws lots for a base territory. These base territories do not border one another on the map. They are each worth 1000 points. Each base territory is indicated on the map with an icon.
In this phase, players compete for the remaining, empty territories. Each round begins with a guess question for all 3 players. The answer to these questions is always a positive whole number. Players have 10 seconds to write their answers (guesses). The winner is the player who enters the answer closest to the right one.
If two answers are the same, or are equidistant from the correct one, the winner is the player who answered fastest. The winner of the question may choose 2 territories, and the second-place answerer may choose 1.
Players may only choose free territories that border their own empire. If there are none of those left, then they may choose any free territory. Players get 10 seconds each to choose territories – if this time expires, then territories are allotted at random. Players get 200 points for every territory they take. This round lasts until all free territories are taken.
From this point on, players try to conquer territories from other players and, in the process, win those points. This phase consists of three rounds, and every player may attack during each round. The order of attacks in the first two rounds is determined at random.
During the first round of battle, players may only attack territories bordering their own empires that are not base territories. The Attacker and the defending player battle one another, while the third player just watches the action.
The battle goes like this: Attacker and Defender are asked the same multiple-choice question. They have 15 seconds to choose the only correct answer among the 4 options given.
*The defender wins if the attacker does not get the correct answer, or does not respond.
*The attacker wins if he gets the right answer and the defender does not.
*If both attacker and defender get the right answer, the battle is decided by a guess question.
If the attacker wins, he gets the contested territory, while the defender has the territory’s value deducted from his score.
The attacker gets 400 points. From this point on, that will be the value of this territory. The defender gets a defense bonus of 100 points if he wins by answering the first question correctly.
Starting with the second round of battle, base territories may also be attacked if they border the attacker’s territories.
When attacking a base territory, the attacker must destroy that territory’s castle. The attacker wins the battle, once the castle burns. There are three towers, you have to destroy them all, one at a time. As soon as the attacker loses, the attack ends.
If the attacker wins he gets all of the defender’s points and territories, and the defender drops out of the game. When the base territory is attacked, the towers that have already fallen do not need to be attacked again.
Knocking down a castle is worth an extra 1000 points, but if it gets taken by someone else, its value falls to 400 points.
In the last round of battle, the player with the most points attacks first, followed by the one with the second most points. Anything may be attacked in this round, so everyone still has a chance to win the game (victory requires taking at least one base territory).
If more than one player has the same point total at the end of the game (after the last round of battle), a guess question will determine the final ranking.
So attacking a territory worth 200 points can bring a 600-point change in relative scores, and a 400-point territory can cancel out an 800-point difference. Once in a while there is the opportunity to attack a castle that has already been destroyed, which brings 400 points to the winner, while 1000 points are deducted from the loser – hence this can mean a 1400-point change in relative scores.
During the final attack of the game, if the point totals are very close, keep in mind that the defender can get 100 points for defending successfully.
