How to invite users to a play for fun game

THE PLAY WITH FRIENDS OPTION

In the Free Play Lobby there are 3 main choices for starting a game: Play for Fame, Play for Practice and Play with Friends. The first two allow you to join the next available game quickly. You simply click enter and the game starts as soon as enough players have joined.

*** By the way, the only difference between Play for Fame and Play for Practice is that the results of a Play for Fame game effect your PPP and other rankings ***

The first 2 options, however, don't allow you to choose your opponents. That's where Play with Friends comes in. Click the "Show Separate Rooms" button to join or create a game against specific players.

JOINING A PLAY WITH FRIENDS GAME

Clicking on the "Show separate tables" button brings you to the Play with Friends window. Here, game invites are listed, plus there is the option to create your own game. Shown on the right is an invite to a game with Jack22. To play against Jack22 click the enter button. You'll then see your name listed below Jack22's. Once the 3rd player has joined the game will start. If before then you want to cancel joining that game, click the "Quit" button beside your name.

Besides joining other people's games, you can create your own game invite by clicking on the "New Separate Room" button at the bottom of the Play with Friends window.

CREATING A GAME INVITE

Clicking on the "New Separate Room" button on the Play with Friends window will bring you to the a screen where you can choose Opponent 1. Click on a player name (B) to select them. You'll then see their name highlighted at the bottom of the screen (C). Alternatively, at the top there are buttons (A) to choose a "Robot" or "Anyone" as your first opponent. Once you've made your selection, click the "Next" button (D).

CREATING A GAME INVITE II

Clicking the "Next" button will bring you to the a screen where you can choose Opponent 2. Here you make your selection just like you did for Opponent 1 above. You also have a back arrow button (A) at the bottom left of the New Separate Room window to allow you to go back and change your Opponent 1 choice. Once you've made your selection, click the "Next" button again.

CREATING A GAME INVITE III

In the final screen for creating a new separate game you can select some additional options and complete your invite. At the top (A) you can see the players you have chosen. If you wish to change those settings you can use the back arrow button (E) at the bottom of the window. Under the players, you'll see the US map (B). There is nothing to select here. In the future when we have additional maps you will be able to make that selection here. Under the map, you have the option to choose short or long rules (C). The default games use short rules. If you want a longer game, choose the other option. Below that, is a drop down (D) to add a message to your game invite. There is no need to add a message, just if you want to. And finally, to complete the process, click the "Create Separate Room" (E) button at the bottom.

WAITING FOR OPPONENTS

Once you've completed your Separate Game Invite, you'll see your request in the Play With Friends window (A). At this stage, if you have invited particular players, probably best to message them through a public or private chat to let them know you have requested a game with them. Before any opponents accept your invite, your request will appear like shown here on the right.

WAITING FOR OPPONENTS II

When a player accepts your Separate Game invite you'll see their status change as shown on the right (A). Once the 3rd opponent has joined the game starts immediately, so stay close so you don't miss the start. If at some point you want to cancel the game, then click the close window arrow in the top right of the Play With Friends window. The other opponents have the option to quit as well, so you may see opponents come and go. Of course, you can message them in private or public chat to encourage them to join your game. Once the game starts. It plays just like any other Free Play Game. Enjoy!
