Your rankings explained

How your rankings are scored

YOUR STATS

In the Play Account Info window the first tab is your data tab (A). Here you'll find your PPP score and other stats. PPP what, you ask? Well, we'll explain it all here. Firstly, we'll list the various stats available and explain them in the following sections. At the top of your data tab you'll see your user name followed by a bunch of dots (B). These are your Daily Rank Score. Under your Daily Rank on the left are a bunch of crowns (C). These are your Games Played Crowns. Under those, you'll see how many games you've played (D). To the right is your PPP cross (E) and finally, under that, your PPP score (F). Details on each of these below.

YOUR DAILY RANK SCORE

Whenever you play a game other than a Play for Practice game, your Daily Rank Score may go up or down depending on your success. At the end of every game, the winner (player with the most points) moves up one rank, and the last-place finisher (the loser) moves down one rank. The middle player is unaffected. A positive rank is displayed as a star. A negative rank is displayed as a skull-and-crossbones. So if you won your first 3 games on a given day you'd receive 3 stars in your daily rank score. If then you came last in your 4th game that day, your 3 starts would reduce to 2. Conversely, if you lost your first 3 games, you'd see 3 skull-and-crossbones on your Daily Rank...etc. The highest daily rank that can be attained is 7 stars and the lowest is 7 skull-and-crossbones. Everyone starts a fresh day at zero (updated at 8:00 AM EST).

GAMES PLAYED CROWNS

As you play more you are awarded with crowns. You receive a crown according to the table below. You can find how many games you've played on the My Data tab (Shown above).

PPP SCORES

The PPP (Player Power Points) is a score that that roughly corresponds to your strength at ConQuiztador. You can see your PPP score number and its corresponding Cross on the My Data tab. Every player starts out with a PPP of 5000 and from there the PPP scores are recalculated after every game (Other than Play for Practice games). The maximum - the supreme ConQuiztador Yogi - score is 10,000. The minimum is a miserable 0. You only receive your PPP cross emblem after 20 games, so when you're first starting you'll have a less impressive looking cross. Here are the crosses attainable:

HOW PPP SCORES ARE CALCULATED

After each game, your PPP score is recalculated according the game results and the strength of the players you competed against. The screen on the right shows an example game summary where the PPP was reduced by 17 points - Oops! Here's how that was calculated:

The PPP score is an average of 3 values: 1. Total Answer Power Points, 2. The Ratio of winning the game and 3. the Opponent average PPP.

Total Answer Power Points (APP) is a measure of how well you answered the trivia questions in the games you've played. It is calculated from your last 256 multiple choice and numerical answers and is a value between 0 and 10000. For multiple choice type questions, it is calculated as a percentage of the questions you got right. If you got 50% correct for your last 256 questions right then that would equal an APP of 5000 (50% of the maximum 10,000). Numerical type questions are a bit more complex. Numerical question answers are measured by how close they were to the correct answer. Your answer's correctness is ranked between 0 - 100. If you were exactly right you would have earned the maximum 100 APP for that question. Your last 256 answers are averaged and then multiplied by a hundred. So, if your average was an amazing Numerical Question Strength of 100, then your APP would be the maximum 10,000. For new players, until you have at least 20 answers this part of your score will be at 5000. Your final Answer Power Points is average between your multiple choice and numerical question scores.

The Ratio of winning the game is a measure of how many of your last 100 games you won or lost. Each game you play can earn you points as follows:

* 1st-place finish = 100
* 2nd-place finish = 50
* 3rd-place finish = 0

So, if you won all of your last 100 games (pure genius), then that would be worth 100*100=10,000. Coming 3rd in your last 100 games earns you no points, so the ratio of winning the game score can range from 0 - 10,000.

Now, if you are a new player you obviously haven't played 100 games yet. So the calculation assumes that you came in second place for those games, giving you a starting score of 5000. To give you an example, lets say you played your first game and came in in 3rd place. Then for that game you earned 0 points. For the other 99 games we assume you came in 2nd place and so give you 99*50=4950 points. So, if you played your first game and came 3rd, you're Ratio of winning the game score would drop from the starting value of 5000 to 4950. As was the case in the example shown on the right.

Opponent average PPP is the average PPP score of your last 100 opponents (measured at the beginning of each game). It doesn't pay to go playing a bunch of dummies with the hope of winning more and inflating your PPP score. Your Opponent average PPP score will suffer. It also won't help you to play against bots thinking you can win more games. Any game played just against bots won't change your PPP. However, if you play a game where one of the opponents is a bot, then that bot is considered in the calculation and assumed to have a PPP of 5000. If a bot replaces a player during the game however, the PPP score of the replaced player is used in the calculation. In addition, if you haven't yet played 100 games, then it's also assumed that the missing opponents had a PPP score of 5000.

So, to complete the explanation of how as a result of the last game the PPP score on the right dropped by 17 points, here is the final calculation. The total Answer Power Points was 5000. The Ratio of winning the game was 4950 and the Opponent average PPP score was 4999. The final PPP score is an average of those - so (5000+4950+4999)/3 = 4983. Given that all players start their first game with a PPP of 5000, their PPP was reduced as a result of this game by 17 points. Better luck next time!
